As a premier player, you need to prepare both your mind and body before a game and any practice. You have to be confident that you are in the best possible shape to play.

The warm-up should ideally consist of four elements.

Psychological
The first and most important thing is the player is in a confident and in a relaxed state. Ensure players are arriving at games and practices early and with all the correct equipment.

Physical
The body has to be ready to perform the movements required of a high-level (footwork, movements, change of direction, change of pace etc)

Here are 7 activities:

- Walking Knee Hugs

- Side shuffles

- Back shuffles

- Lunges

- Leg swings

- Inchworms

- Karaokes

Technical
It is important to go through a variety of technical aspects of that will be used in a game. Passes, turns, moves.

1) Ensure you dribble using different parts of your foot.

2) Using cones or other items, dribble in a figure of eight.

3) Get practicing with different turns

4) With a friend or family member, shield the ball.

5) Practice wall passes

Game related situations

The situations here are done at game speed and include opposition.

At higher levels, this may have to do with either a scouting report on how your team or the other team play, the type of surface you are playing on, dealing with conditions and the balls that you are playing with.
